COVERAGE & RECONCILIATION

We don't say "complete". We publish the difference.

Every morning our pipeline takes EDGAR's daily form index for each of the last ten business days, lists every Form 4 and Form 4/A accession in it, and checks each one against our processing ledger. This page is that check, updated daily — including the days we'd rather not show.

"In EDGAR index" counts unique accessions (the index lists each filing under both the issuer's and the reporting owner's CIK; we de-duplicate). "Same-day capture" is the share of a day's filings our real-time lane saw on the filing day itself (Eastern time); it is a measurement of latency, not a promise, and is shown only for days fully inside the measured period.

Method & scope

Source of truth

EDGAR's daily form index (form.YYYYMMDD.idx) — the SEC's own list of every filing accepted that day. We take every Form 4 and Form 4/A accession from it.

What we compare

Each accession against our processing ledger: an append-only record of every filing we processed and what came out of it. The difference is a set, not a count — a missing filing cannot hide behind a similar total.

What 'zero' means

Every filing in the index is accounted for: either its Table I transactions are in our data, or the filing is recorded as having no Table I transactions (derivative-only filings are common: option grants, RSU vestings).

What it does not mean

Table II (derivative) transactions are not in scope. Senate PTRs come from efdsearch.senate.gov (House disclosures are not covered). Joint filings are attributed to the first reporting owner. Same-day capture is measured, never promised.

When

Reconciliation runs in the first morning job (≈04:10 UTC) for the last 10 business days and is re-checked intraday. If any day is unreconciled, our own pipeline job fails loudly and the day stays listed here until resolved.

Why this page exists

In August 2026 a persistence bug silently dropped 24% of our stored rows for nine days while every correctness test stayed green. Tests checked whether our data was right; nothing checked whether it was all there. We recovered the data from version history, rebuilt the store as an append-only ledger, and added this per-filing reconciliation against the SEC's own index. The rule we adopted: a data feed may not describe itself as complete — it may only show its reconciliation, every day.

FTF Data is a data provider, not an investment advisor. Reconciliation covers SEC Form 4 / 4-A filings in EDGAR's daily index; Table I (non-derivative) transactions only. Source: sec.gov. Questions: [email protected]
